The route leaves Moratalla and climbs towards Campo de San Juan, carries on to Inazares and finishes at El Sabinar, linking the RM-702, RM-703 and RM-730. It is a mountain ride through the interior of the Murcian Noroeste, away from the main roads, on which the road gains height until it reaches the high plateaus at the top of the area.
The whole ride stays within the Noroeste comarca, through the municipalities of Moratalla and Caravaca de la Cruz. It is a very different Murcia from the coast and the huerta: pine woods, cereal fields on the plateaus, small hamlets and open mountain scenery. The bends come one after another, without big hairpins, and the appeal lies in the steady rhythm of the road and how little traffic it usually carries.
It is about 124 km, which the route engine puts at just over four hours without stops, a good sign of how narrow and twisty these roads are; around 160 bends are counted along the way. Altitude ranges from about 630 m to about 1,350 m. Services are few and far between, so set off with a full tank. Expect gravel, loose livestock and patches of uneven surface in the mountains, and in winter the higher sections can have ice or snow.
