The RM-515 leaves Alhama de Murcia and wraps around the northern side of Sierra Espuña, passing Gebas, carrying on to Pliego and finishing in Mula. It is a local road linking the Guadalentín valley with the Río Mula area, and it can be ridden on its own or as a link with the Espuña roads.
The ride crosses the Bajo Guadalentín comarca and enters the Río Mula comarca, through the municipalities of Alhama de Murcia, Pliego and Mula. The highlights are the Gebas badlands, a landscape of bare, eroded ground with an almost lunar look, and the La Cierva reservoir beside the route. The bends are open and linked, more about rhythm than braking, with the sierra always to one side.
It is about 31 km and just under an hour without stops. Altitude ranges from around 200 m to about 520 m, and some 88 bends are counted along the way, with the odd hairpin. The area is very exposed to the sun and summers are very hot, so go early in the day. Earth or gravel washed down from the banks can end up on the bends, especially after rain, and cyclists are common.
