The route leaves Sant Llorenç de Morunys, in the Vall de Lord, and climbs the C-462 to the Coll de Port. From the pass it drops to Tuixent and follows the Vall de la Vansa down to the Segre valley, where a final stretch of the LV-4008 leads to La Seu d'Urgell.
The ride links the Solsonès with the Alt Urgell through the municipalities of Sant Llorenç de Morunys, La Coma i la Pedra, Josa i Tuixén, La Vansa i Fórnols, Alàs i Cerc and La Seu d'Urgell. The climb runs through pine forest and mountain pastures, and beyond the pass Tuixent and the Vall de la Vansa sit below the southern face of the Serra del Cadí. What makes it special is the layout: a huge number of bends and hairpins through a very sparsely populated area.
It is about 66 km and almost two hours without stops, with around 400 bends and some fifteen hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 680 m to almost 1,700 m. Traffic is light but the road is narrow in places, with possible gravel and livestock on the surface. It is cold at the top even in summer and in winter there is snow and ice; there are few services along the way.
