The route leaves Lagos westwards on the EN 125 and reaches Vila do Bispo, where the road turns south. From there the EN 268 runs to Sagres and finally to Cabo de São Vicente, with its lighthouse on the cliffs.
This is not a twisty road: it is almost straight and flat, and the point is where it takes you. The landscape grows more open and wild as you near the cape, with low scrub, wind and the Atlantic on both sides at the end. The last stretch lies within the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina.
It is about 41 km and just over an hour without stops, with hardly any climbing (from sea level to under 100 m). It suits an unhurried ride, a stop in Sagres and sunset at the cape. It is a one-way ride: you come back on the same road.
