This is a loop: it starts and finishes in Ubrique. First it climbs the A-2302 towards Benaocaz and Villaluenga del Rosario, between limestone walls and mountain pastures, then carries on to Grazalema, one of the best-known white villages of the Cádiz sierra.

From Grazalema the A-372 drops towards El Bosque, more open and with good views over the valley, and the A-373 closes the circuit back to Ubrique. The whole ride stays within the Sierra de Cádiz and the surroundings of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park.

It is about 61 km and almost two hours without stops, with around 200 bends and four hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 250 m to 1,100 m, so the temperature can be quite different down in the valley and up high. It is a mountain road through narrow villages: take it easy as you pass through them.

Best time

Spring and autumn are ideal. Grazalema is one of the rainiest areas in Spain: limestone gets slippery in the wet, and in winter there can be fog or ice up high.

Before you go

  • Look out for goats and loose livestock on the road through Benaocaz and Villaluenga.
  • The village streets are narrow and busy at weekends.
  • From Grazalema you can link up with the Puerto de las Palomas towards Zahara.
