The route leaves Ugíjar, in the Granada Alpujarra, and heads east on the A-348 into the province of Almería. It passes through Laujar de Andarax and Fondón and finishes at Canjáyar, with a section on the A-1180 and the AL-5402. It is a scenic ride along the Andarax valley, the backbone of the Almería Alpujarra, and links well with other routes in the Granada Alpujarra.
It crosses the municipalities of Ugíjar, Alcolea, Laujar de Andarax, Fondón, Almócita and Canjáyar. The valley lies between the southern side of Sierra Nevada and the Sierra de Gádor, and the road runs along the hillside past white villages, vineyards, table-grape arbours, olive groves and terraces. It is a road of wide bends and a relaxed pace, more about enjoying the scenery than pushing on, with some narrow passages through villages.
It is about 40 km, with an estimated riding time of around an hour and ten minutes without stops. Altitude ranges from around 490 m to almost 1,000 m. The valley villages are worth stopping in, so allow extra time. Gravel can appear on bends, and farm machinery and cyclists are common, especially at weekends.
