The route starts in the city of Córdoba and climbs north on the CO-3402 to Santa María de Trassierra, a hamlet belonging to the city and already up in the hills. From there it continues on the A-3075 and the CO-3314 into the Sierra Morena, finishing on the A-431 at Villaviciosa de Córdoba. It is one of the easiest ways to leave the city behind and be on mountain roads within minutes.
The route crosses only two municipalities, Córdoba and Villaviciosa de Córdoba, but the change of scenery is striking: from the flat Guadalquivir valley you rise into the rolling Sierra Morena, with dehesa, holm oak woodland and Mediterranean scrub. The road climbs through linked bends and then winds across the hills on an irregular line, with narrow stretches and limited visibility on some corners. It is a quiet area, with few settlements between the two ends.
It is about 55 km. The estimate is just over two hours without stops, long for the distance, which reflects how winding the route is and its minor roads. Altitude ranges from around 95 m in Córdoba to around 700 m in the hills. There are few services between Trassierra and Villaviciosa, so set off with a full tank. In the hills you may meet livestock, wildlife crossing and cyclists, especially on the climb out of Córdoba.
