The route leaves Cabra and heads south-east on the A-339 to Carcabuey, then on towards Priego de Córdoba. From there it follows smaller roads, the CO-8211, the C-336a and the CO-7209, to the hamlet of Zagrilla. It is a short ride linking three of the best-known towns in the south of Córdoba province, and it combines easily with other roads in the area if you want a longer day.
The whole route runs through the municipalities of Cabra, Carcabuey and Priego de Córdoba, around the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park. The landscape is one of limestone hills, valleys covered in olive groves and white villages clinging to the slopes. Linked bends alternate with stretches through towns, so the pace varies: let the bike flow through the curves and slow down calmly as you reach each village. The minor roads at the end are narrower and need more attention.
It is about 39 km, with an estimated riding time of just over an hour without stops. Altitude ranges from around 470 m to around 800 m, with no major passes. The calculated route includes a very short unsurfaced section, about 200 metres long, worth bearing in mind. On local roads, expect gravel on bends, farm machinery during the olive harvest and cyclists, especially at weekends.
