The route leaves Puerto de Mazarrón, follows the RM-332 through Ramonete and arrives in Águilas. The road runs between the coastal hills and the sea, sometimes close to the shore and sometimes inland among farmland. It can be ridden there and back, or linked with inland roads to make a loop.
The ride crosses the Bajo and Alto Guadalentín comarcas, through the municipalities of Mazarrón, Lorca and Águilas. The landscape mixes dry, bare hills, small coves and beaches, and greenhouses on the flatter ground. It is a coast with far less building than other parts of the Mediterranean, and that shows on the road, which alternates straights with sections of sweeping bends.
It is about 48 km and roughly an hour and twenty minutes without stops. Altitude ranges from sea level to about 385 m, and some 81 bends are counted along the way, with no hairpins. Among the greenhouses you will meet tractors, vans and farm lorries pulling in and out of side tracks, and there may be earth on the road. Summer heat is strong, and in the beach months there is more traffic near the coastal towns.
