The route leaves Sant Celoni and climbs the BV-5114 into the massif, through Fogars de Montclús up to the Santa Fe area. From the top it links the GIV-5201, the GI-543 and the BV-5119 to drop down to Viladrau, in Osona.
The ride crosses three districts, the Vallès Oriental, La Selva and Osona, through the municipalities of Sant Celoni, Fogars de Montclús, Arbúcies and Viladrau, inside the Montseny Natural Park. The climb goes from the holm oaks of the valley to the oak and beech woods higher up, and the Santa Fe reservoir is the best-known spot along the way. What makes it special is the sheer number of bends in so few kilometres.
It is about 39 km and around an hour and a quarter without stops, with more than 200 bends and five hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 160 m to just over 1,300 m. The road is narrow in many places and busy with day-trippers and cyclists at weekends: take it calmly and only overtake with clear visibility. Up high the surface can be damp or covered in leaves, and there are speed checks in the area.
