The route crosses the Sierra de Aracena from east to west. It leaves Aracena on the HU-8105 towards Linares de la Sierra and Alájar, continues to Fuenteheridos and joins the N-433 to reach Jabugo. From there it follows the HU-8114 and HU-8121 to finish in Cortegana. It is a string of mountain villages close to one another, ideal for an unhurried ride.
The whole route lies in the Sierra de Huelva comarca, within the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Natural Park. It crosses the municipalities of Aracena, Linares de la Sierra, Alájar, Castaño del Robledo, Fuenteheridos, Jabugo, Almonaster la Real and Cortegana. The landscape mixes chestnut groves, cork oaks and holm-oak dehesa with Iberian pigs; Jabugo is well known for its ham. The minor roads are narrow and full of bends.
It covers about 43 km and a little over an hour and a half without stops: the distance is short, but the layout keeps the pace slow. Altitude ranges from about 430 m to about 840 m. It is a damp, shady area, so the tarmac may be wet or covered in leaves, especially in autumn. Also watch for livestock, tractors and gravel on the minor roads.
