The route starts and finishes in Aracena. Heading west it passes Linares de la Sierra and Alájar, below the Peña de Arias Montano, and continues via Santa Ana la Real to Almonaster la Real, with its mosque at the top of the village.
It then reaches Cortegana and turns towards Jabugo, home of Iberian ham, before returning through Castaño del Robledo, Fuenteheridos and Los Marines to Aracena. The whole loop is in the Sierra de Huelva, around the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Natural Park.
It is about 67 km and around two and a half hours without stops, with more than 200 bends and one hairpin. Altitude ranges from about 430 m to 800 m. The provincial roads are narrow and heavily shaded: in autumn and in damp weather there can be leaves and mud on the surface.
