The route starts and ends in Caravaca de la Cruz. It first heads to Moratalla, with its old quarter stacked below the castle, on an inland road through fields and sierras.
From Moratalla it drops to Calasparra, in the Segura valley, known for its rice, and returns along the RM-715 and RM-517 to Cehegín, another historic town, before closing the loop in Caravaca. The whole ride is in the Northwest district of Murcia.
It is about 61 km and almost two hours without stops, with some 105 bends and no hairpins: more scenery and towns than mountain passes. Altitude ranges from about 320 m to 750 m. It is a relaxed, rewarding loop, ideal for combining with stops.
