The route leaves Llançà and follows the coast on the GI-612 to El Port de la Selva. From there the GI-613 crosses the hills towards Cadaqués, and the GI-614 climbs to the pass and drops towards Roses, with a final stretch of the GI-610.
The whole ride is in the Alt Empordà, through the municipalities of Llançà, El Port de la Selva, Cadaqués and Roses, around the Cap de Creus Natural Park. The landscape is dark rock shaped by the wind, old terraces and coves, with the white village of Cadaqués at the back of its bay. What makes it special is the sense of remoteness: this is the easternmost tip of the peninsula, and it shows.
It is about 38 km and around an hour and a quarter without stops, with around 200 bends and a couple of hairpins. Altitude ranges from sea level to almost 290 m. The tramontana wind can blow very hard and unsettle the bike, especially on the passes. In summer there is heavy traffic to Cadaqués: only overtake with clear visibility and plenty of room.
