The route leaves Sant Feliu de Guíxols and follows the GI-682 south, hugging the coast, to Tossa de Mar. The whole route is on the same road, which can be ridden in either direction.
The ride passes through the municipalities of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Santa Cristina d'Aro and Tossa de Mar, between the Baix Empordà and La Selva. The road runs along the hillside above the sea, among pines and rock, with coves below and viewpoints along the way, and ends in Tossa with the walled Vila Vella. What makes it special is the mix of sea and bends: there is barely a straight metre the whole way.
It is about 22 km and around half an hour without stops, with around 200 bends and one hairpin. Altitude ranges from sea level to about 160 m. In summer and at weekends there is heavy traffic, coaches and cars stopping at viewpoints, plus cyclists: only overtake with clear visibility and plenty of room. The road is narrow with no hard shoulder, and there are speed checks in the area.
