The route leaves Callosa d'en Sarrià and follows the CV-715 north. The road gains height gradually to Tàrbena, perched on the hillside, and keeps climbing to the Coll de Rates. From the pass it drops down to Parcent in the Vall de Pop. It is a short stretch that works on its own or as a link between inland Marina Baixa and the valleys of the Marina Alta.
The ride crosses from the Marina Baixa into the Marina Alta through the municipalities of Callosa d'en Sarrià, Bolulla, Tàrbena and Parcent. The climb runs between terraces, almond trees and scrub, and from the pass the view opens out over the valleys and coast of the Marina Alta. What makes it special is the layout: linked bends on the way up and a descent of hairpins towards Parcent that calls for a calm pace.
It is about 28 km and a little under an hour without stops, with around 170 bends and half a dozen hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 165 m to just over 630 m. It is a very popular climb with cyclists, especially in winter and at weekends: only overtake with clear visibility and plenty of room. The road is narrow in places and there may be gravel on the bends; there is a very short unpaved section.
