The loop starts and finishes in Pego. The CV-712 coils up the mountain above the town to the Vall d'Ebo and carries on to Alcalà de la Jovada, in the Vall d'Alcalà. From there it joins the CV-700, which runs down through Benialí and the rest of the Vall de Gallinera back towards Pego. There is no need to retrace your steps: each section has a different landscape.
The whole ride stays in the Marina Alta, through the municipalities of Pego, la Vall d'Ebo, la Vall d'Alcalà, la Vall de Gallinera and Adsubia. The climb from Pego to the Vall d'Ebo is the twistiest part, with views over the marshland and the coast as you gain height. The inland valleys are quiet, with small villages and terraced fields, and the Vall de Gallinera is known for its cherry trees, which transform the landscape in spring.
It is about 47 km, but allow a little over an hour and a half without stops: there are some 210 bends and around ten hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 60 m to about 650 m. The roads are narrow, with village crossings and limited visibility on many bends. There may be gravel, tractors and farm machinery, especially at harvest time.
