The route starts in Polop and takes the CV-70 up the valley. It passes Guadalest, continues through Benimantell and Beniardà to Confrides and crests the Port de Confrides before dropping down towards Benasau. Sections of the CV-7621 and the CV-715 are also used along the way. It is a one-way ride that links well with the Coll de Rates or the Port de Tudons for a full day in the area.
The whole ride stays in the Marina Baixa, through the municipalities of Polop, Benimantell, Beniardà, Confrides and Benasau. The Guadalest valley is one of the best-known spots inland in Alicante province, with the village and its castle on the rock, the reservoir below and the Serra d'Aitana closing off the view. The surface is usually in good condition and the views last almost the whole way, with constant bends but a flowing rhythm.
It is about 33 km and a little under an hour without stops, with around 190 bends and five hairpins. You climb from about 160 m to almost 970 m at the pass, so it can be noticeably cooler at the top than on the coast. The Guadalest area draws a lot of visitors, with coaches and cars pulling in and out of the car parks. On the upper section, watch for gravel and cyclists.
