The route leaves Les Coves de Vinromà and climbs on the CV-129 towards Albocàsser. From there it follows the CV-15 and CV-166 to Benassal and finishes in Culla on the CV-10 and local roads. It is a gradual climb from the Plana Alta up to the high ground of the Maestrat.
The ride crosses from the Plana Alta into l'Alt Maestrat through the municipalities of Les Coves de Vinromà, Albocàsser, Ares del Maestrat, Benassal and Culla. The landscape is one of mesas, fields enclosed by dry-stone walls and farmhouses, and Culla keeps the feel of a medieval village on its hilltop. What makes it special is the climb of more than 800 m from the lowlands to the Maestrat, on quiet roads with wide-open views.
It is about 42 km and a little over an hour without stops, with around 90 bends and three hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 175 m to just over 1,050 m. The higher part is cold and windy, with frost in winter. Watch for livestock and farm machinery on the local roads.
