The route leaves Rossell in the Baix Maestrat and links the CV-105 and CV-100; a short stretch crosses the municipality of La Sénia, in Tarragona, on the TV-1040. It then climbs on the CV-107 and CV-106 to La Pobla de Benifassà and continues to Fredes, close to the borders with Catalonia and Aragon.
The ride passes through the municipalities of Rossell, La Sénia and La Pobla de Benifassà, to which Fredes belongs. This is the area of the Tinença de Benifassà Natural Park, with pine and oak woods, ravines and small mountain hamlets; the monastery of Santa Maria de Benifassà is nearby. What makes it special is the remoteness and the contrast between the lower valley and the high ground around Fredes.
It is about 37 km and almost an hour and a half without stops, with around 150 bends and six hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 330 m to just under 1,200 m. The roads in the Tinença are narrow and there may be gravel or animals on the road. It is a cold area: in winter there is frost and sometimes snow.
