The loop starts and ends in Berga. It heads north on the C-16, through Cercs and La Nou de Berguedà, to Guardiola de Berguedà, and follows the valley up the B-402 to La Pobla de Lillet.
From La Pobla de Lillet the BV-4656 crosses the hills to Sant Jaume de Frontanyà, one of the smallest villages in Catalonia, with its Romanesque church, and drops to Borredà. The loop returns to Berga on the C-26 through Vilada. The whole route is in the Berguedà, among pine forests, limestone ridges and mid-mountain valleys.
It is about 70 km and around an hour and three quarters without stops, with around 300 bends and five hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 630 m to about 1,200 m. The BV-4656 is narrow and twisty, with possible gravel on the bends; in winter there may be ice in shaded spots.
