The loop starts and ends in Sant Mateu. It leaves on the CV-130 and a stretch of the N-232 and climbs on the CV-128 to Catí. From there it drops down the CV-15 towards Albocàsser and returns via Tírig and La Salzadella on the CV-129, CV-132 and CV-1281.
The ride crosses from the Baix Maestrat into l'Alt Maestrat through the municipalities of Sant Mateu, Xert, Catí, Ares del Maestrat, Albocàsser, Tírig and La Salzadella. Sant Mateu was the historic capital of the Maestrat and keeps a monumental old town; Catí sits among mesas and fields enclosed by dry-stone walls, and Tírig is home to the Valltorta museum, next to the rock art of the ravine. What makes it special is the mix of villages and landscape rather than the bends.
It is about 68 km and around two hours without stops, with around 70 bends and seven hairpins. Altitude ranges from about 330 m to about 710 m. The N-232 stretch is busier, with lorries; the rest are quiet roads. Watch for farm machinery and livestock on the local roads.
